Hi Elle, Many people find that the Nickel in Sterling Silver ear rings OR in the ear ring posts cause VERY unpleasant wensitivity. I commend you and your daughter for looking at this problem seriously; however, I believe that using CS to ear lobes or dipping posts into CS before inserting will help the inflammation. BEST solution, my wife found after suffering with the same problem--DO NOT use Sterling Silver ear ring posts, but find ones with NO Nickel. Check my site and let me know if I can help.
