Dumb computer user question:
How does one back up email messages to a CD? As someone else just wrote,
the only way I could find was to open each message and save it to the
CD individually. No way that was practical, and I can see I should have
saved them elsewhere on my computer than just leaving them in Netscape
mail, ain't hindsight just grand?

Evening Chuck,
When we had archives, they became huge and unuseable because of their
size.
The archives should end and start over, now and then.
How often?
Many are not familiar with "End of File", "Invalid End of File".
or "Unexpected End of File". These are messages that mean you have
likely lost a file.
If it is a program file, the program will not likely work until
reinstalled.
It used to be common. Likely WindoZZe does not even know or bother
telling us about it.
It usually means you have lost a file.
If a file is valuable, there must be several copies to counter this.
I set the archives on my list to make a new file each month.
I realize this does not enhance any searches. It is better than not
have a file to search.
If the silver list archives run for one year, the file would likely be
several hundred megs, or maybe a gig or two. Way TOO BIG, as you stated.
I have near 200 of these files. Each contains from 10,000 to 30,000
messages.
I usually break them up by year to keep the size down a bit.
When I used to make original Autocad drawings, I would back up the file
once per hour.
If someone is working on an important file or document, backing it up
once per hour is not too often.
Insurance costs little compared to the loss.
