Thanks Alberto. I think what you're trying to accomplish is slightly
different than what I'm doing in my system, but I have a couple
observations that may nevertheless be useful.

The first one is that you don't seem to be specifying the registration
timeout. You should add the statement "defaultexpirey=3600" to your
[general] section in sip.conf (see my sip.conf, attached). Asterisk's
default registration time is shorter than 3600 (I think it's 1800??) but
sipX freaks out about register requests with expiration times of
anything other than 3600. I've had this problem with AudioCodes FXS as
well.

The second is what you mentioned -- Asterisk 1.2's SIP proxy support is
somewhat lacking and v1.4 does things a lot better (i.e. it has features
geared to interacting with a true SIP proxy like sipX) - such as SRV
support and the ability to do things by SIP domain instead of hostname.
On mine you can see that I have the domain & host entries set to my sipX
SIP domain, ccu.edu, and Asterisk using SRV records to find what it
needs. On the sipX side, I have two users, 3491 and 3050, that Asterisk
registers as. That way, sipX is using its own knowledge of the
registration (rather than dialplan) to route calls. Asterisk uses the
"outboundproxy=ccu.edu" parameter and sends all calls it needs to route
to the proxy for routing. This works well but I don't think it will fly
on Asterisk 1.2 unfortunately... I'm pretty sure those features were
introduced on 1.4.

Sincerely,
Steve Farr

Steve,
I think this the file that you need.
The Asterisk is version 1.2.24.
Thanks,
Alberto

What about the root sip.conf file -- the one you included doesn't seem
to have the general section?

Steve Farr

Steve,
These are the sip.conf and extensions.conf files. The name of the SIP
trunk that is trying to register to my Sipxpbx is TELELIGUE.
Thanks,
Alberto

Alberto, can you provide a copy of your sip.conf & extensions.conf from
your Asterisk server, as well as what version of Asterisk you're
running? I have a successful interface between Asterisk 1.4 and sipX
3.8.2 using SIP so I'd like to see your files. Then I can compare them
with mine. If they're really huge you can send them to me personally
instead of the list and I'll reply back to the list with only some
relevant portions (if I find anything).

Sincerely,
Steve Farr

Ok,

I will try my best to explain the scenario but forgive me on the clarity

since Portuguese
is my native language.

I am setting up a small Voip Cellular Termination Service. On the
termination/gateways side I have several hardware from different
manufacturers that register to my central Sipxpbx.
I have 10 ATAs that register with Sipxpbx and send calls to each other
and to the termination outgoing gateways.
Now I need to connect a client that has an Asterisk Server with 10
phones. I created a user in Sipxpbx. I created a Sip Trunk Route in the
Asterisk to the Sipxpbx, and put the info of the Sipxpbx user in the
"outgoing settings" of Asterisk.
The Asterisk sends a
Sip Register every 20 seconds, and they all receive a 401 error.
My previous email has a sample from the registrar.log with the 401
response.

Thanks for your quick responses,

Alberto Furtado
