You have a propensity to not fully answer the questions. I asked them because
they will be IMPORTANT. Please read below...

I'm pretty sure I answered this in my first message - they are all on
the same switch. It's all here in my living room so it's easy to see
:-)

** Are they on the same subnet or not? Are they routed? Are they private or are
they all on PUBLIC routable addresses?
> 2. Where is your DNS zone file for your domain hosted?

My server. I've been hosting my own DNS for about 2 dozen domains for
5 or 6 years now, so I'm pretty sure it's not a DNS issue. I did the
digs and such and got back the expected results.

** Assuming you have a firewall and your network is on private IP addresses
(10.x, 192.168.x or 172.x addresses), then your DNS queries point to the sipx
server when you dig for a SRV lookup for sip to the private address for sipx?

> on sipx itself, or somewhere else? Make sure the xlite and sipx are using the

They are - the same server my internal subnet has been using for 5 or
6 years now with no issues for Linux or windows clients. It's a PC
running FreeBSD - the 3rd physical incarnation of my home server. Now
that I have lots of free time on my hands I'll be switching that to a
Linux firewall to install my /29 subnet so I can put my sipXecs box
"out into the wild" in my DMZ. Of course that will require a complete
re-install but that is OK because I've been taking notes on what I've
been doing :-)

** Not necessarily if you have split zone DNS and wait for 4.0 to ship. Then
sipx can sit behind your firewall utilizing sipxbridge.

I'll look up what this all is and do it promptly.

** Waiting for that.
> 4. Can you see your lines (xlite) register in sipx?

I already answered that in my first message as well. I have lots of
expired registrations for each of the 2 phones, but always an active
one as well for each. Like this :

"Alan McKay"<sip:[email protected]>
    <sip:[email protected]:61851;rinstance=7844297e263d5404;transport=TCP>
      Expired
"Isaac Dimock"<sip:[email protected]>

"Isaac Dimock"<sip:[email protected]>
    <sip:[email protected]:2429;rinstance=7eeb03a394176ecb;transport=TCP>
    2361

** Which is why I sent you the configuration to make sure sip keep alive was
turned on and rport was off for xlite. Please re-read that section.

Right from the beginning I used my standard abc123 for this sort of thing.

**Good.

See above - I am pretty sure they are registered from the level of
access / knowledge I have at this moment. I'm sure I'll learn how to
dig into it better in the days to come.

**I think the issue is the xlite config.
> If everything is right as rain, and you've done steps 1-5 and all looks

OK, I'll go through that as well and see where I get.

Oh, I also just realised that my switch is a refurb, so I'm going to
switch to another one that is not a refurb and see what happens. You
never know. I haven't noticed any problems with it the last 2 or 3
weeks I've been using it though.

**Please look at the email I sent with the proper settings for xlite. I always
had issues with establishing a video call (dropped after 8-12 seconds) until I
did make that change.
thanks,
-Alan

** You are welcome. Tony
