> 1. Confirm your phones and your sipx installation are on the same subnet.
I'm pretty sure I answered this in my first message - they are all on the same switch. It's all here in my living room so it's easy to see :-) > 2. Where is your DNS zone file for your domain hosted? My server. I've been hosting my own DNS for about 2 dozen domains for 5 or 6 years now, so I'm pretty sure it's not a DNS issue. I did the digs and such and got back the expected results. > on sipx itself, or somewhere else? Make sure the xlite and sipx are using the > same DNS server. They are - the same server my internal subnet has been using for 5 or 6 years now with no issues for Linux or windows clients. It's a PC running FreeBSD - the 3rd physical incarnation of my home server. Now that I have lots of free time on my hands I'll be switching that to a Linux firewall to install my /29 subnet so I can put my sipXecs box "out into the wild" in my DMZ. Of course that will require a complete re-install but that is OK because I've been taking notes on what I've been doing :-) > 3. Did you perform the preflights tests from sipxconfig to make sure they > passed? Are your services running? Do you get an error when invoking > service sipxpbx restart > from the CLI on the sipx system? They should all read OK with no warnings. I'll look up what this all is and do it promptly. > 4. Can you see your lines (xlite) register in sipx? I already answered that in my first message as well. I have lots of expired registrations for each of the 2 phones, but always an active one as well for each. Like this : "Alan McKay"<sip:[email protected]> <sip:[email protected]:61851;rinstance=7844297e263d5404;transport=TCP> Expired "Isaac Dimock"<sip:[email protected]> <sip:[email protected]:2424;rinstance=df262fa6149ba457;transport=TCP> Expired "Alan McKay"<sip:[email protected]> <sip:[email protected]:61854;rinstance=4a70fcd24decb831;transport=TCP> 3548 "Isaac Dimock"<sip:[email protected]> <sip:[email protected]:2429;rinstance=7eeb03a394176ecb;transport=TCP> 2361 > 5. For simplicity sake during testing, change the PIN and SIP PASSWORD to > something easy, like 200 for line 200, to make typos less problematic (click > advanced in user setting in sipxconfig). Right from the beginning I used my standard abc123 for this sort of thing. > It's my suspicion the phones haven't registered because the configuration in > xlite is wrong or something is not absolutely finished in your sipx > installation. See above - I am pretty sure they are registered from the level of access / knowledge I have at this moment. I'm sure I'll learn how to dig into it better in the days to come. > If everything is right as rain, and you've done steps 1-5 and all looks > perfect, I suggest editing xlite config as follows: OK, I'll go through that as well and see where I get. Oh, I also just realised that my switch is a refurb, so I'm going to switch to another one that is not a refurb and see what happens. You never know. I haven't noticed any problems with it the last 2 or 3 weeks I've been using it though. thanks, -Alan _______________________________________________ sipx-users mailing list [email protected] List Archive: http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-users Unsubscribe: http://list.sipfoundry.org/mailman/listinfo/sipx-users
