Hi, thank you for your response. To answer your questions: >>"Dial tone in digital systems is generated by the handset, because thereis no >>analog service at the other end generating it. It is a "comfort"item placed >>there for the user."
Thank you, but if I change my config to a purposefully incorrect setup, I do not get a dial tone. So I believe the SPA942 handsets must only give this "comfort" feature when there is a gernuine registration to server. The sipx server shows both handsets registered. The phones themselves report being registered. >>"Did your system pass the preflight tests?" Yes my system passed all preflight tests. >>"Did you manually configure them or let sipxconfig do this?" I let sipx configure the handsets. The config file is served by TFTP. >>"Have you looked at your firmware on the device as opposed to what is >>available now?" My devices are at latest firmware version available for them >>"The correct way to dial "201" from "200" would be to punch in "201"from the >>handset. Dialling 201 from the handset just gives a budy tone and "Call Ended". A call from the softphone to "sip:2...@domain" works fine. Are the handsets new or were they used elsewhere? If used elsewhere reset them to defaults. Did you manually configure them or let sipxconfig do this? Have you looked at your firmware on the device as opposed to what is available now? "201", "mailto:[email protected]", You are not sending email, so this will never work. "sip:mailto:[email protected]", will work assuming all of the above is done correctly. "sip:201:phoneIP", might work, but would probably prove to cause issues, and is not recommended. The correct way to dial "201" from "200" would be to punch in "201" from the handset. Because it does not work there is likely a problem with the ACK, a call trace would be helpful, though I recommend you address the above before venturing there. Using the softphone I can call both the physical SPA942 phone handsets fine (they ring, can be answered etc). However, using the SPA942 phone handsets I cannot call the softphone either - so very clearly the problem is with the SPA942s making IP-based calls. I suspect it is as simple as the address I'm using being incorrectly formatted, but I've tried "201", "mailto:[email protected]", "sip:mailto:[email protected]", "sip:201:phoneIP" etc. _______________________________________________ sipx-users mailing list [email protected] List Archive: http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-users Unsubscribe: http://list.sipfoundry.org/mailman/listinfo/sipx-users sipXecs IP PBX -- http://www.sipfoundry.org/ -- ====================== Tony Graziano, Manager Telephone: 434.984.8430 Fax: 434.984.8431 Email: [email protected] LAN/Telephony/Security and Control Systems Helpdesk: Telephone: 434.984.8426 Fax: 434.984.8427 Helpdesk Contract Customers: http://www.myitdepartment.net/gethelp/ Why do mathematicians always confuse Halloween and Christmas?
