I do not believe the feature in 4.4 helps you anyways. That feature allows freeswitch to transcode media, but freeswitch is not in the media path for calls between endpoints (and actually nothing sits in the media path between endpoints). Freeswitch sits in the media path for voicemail, AA and conferencing.
