Aldo,
I have to take back what I said in my first reply to this message.
In fact, I point to the ...\GSC\ folder, too, that contains the 24
separate folders, and not the higher-level folder that contains the
GSC and TABLES folders. I see that I don't need the TABLES folder at
all! I couldn't get to it anyway, pointing to the GSC folder.
And now, I'm not sure how I got a hold of the GSC! So I'm going
back through my files to see if I can figure that out again. Maybe
I can give you some new clues.
I see what Patrick did in his reply to you, but I don't get a .tar
file -- I get the files called 4630.gsc etc. And I see what you did.
I copied N8230 from ftp://cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr/pub/cats/I/220/GSC/,
and I evidently retrieve the same data you have then, with 4630.gsc
being 5KB. It's still a puzzle for me. Perhaps the file called
4630.gsc, for example, is really a .tar file that needs to be
expanded per Patrick's instructions using Winzip.
  More later.
Dick
