One more factor to think about here....and I made this mistake...is always
install YOUR gear at the clients location.

Here's why.

If you allow that client to use their PCMCIA card to connect to your
network, then they walk into the back of their house, right next to their
2.4 Ghz phone and try surfing. Guess what happens?!?!

Your whole network drops down to 1 Meg speed to account for this one dumb
a$$.

Put an indoor airBridge in their 2nd floor window facing your antenna. Make
sure you articulate the antenna to gain the best RSSI/LQ then tape/mount
that sucker down!! Don't let your clients move their gear around.

I ONLYYYYYYYY do outdoor equipment now. I initially signed up 6 clients
with indoor gear (cause I was stupid and wanted clients bad). I am now down
to 3 indoor clients.

I cant say that I am too sad to see those 3 go either. They were bringing
my network speeds down the tubes. Their satisfaction level was VERY low to
say the least, and are probably bad mouthing me now.

So...save yourself the pain....DONT DO IT!!

Sully

P.S. With all that said, your idea to put a cheapo AP on the roof to allow
him connectivity to it would do the trick....just don't let him on your
mainstream connection.
