Aside from VPNing the whole darn thing....just use as much as you got. Someone looking for a free ride can easily surf off of one of my client's internal (unsecured) wireless network. Why spend time trying to crack me??
BTW...I spent 72 hours with airsnort and only obtained 1 (one) "interesting packet". I am REALLY not worried about WEP being cracked. With that said, I use MAC authentication for every single unit (radius), and soon will be using PPPoE back to a Microtik (if Eje is ever found--still need to order it). RECAP 128 bit WEP RADIUS MAC Authenitication PPPoE If someone is just plain old bored...they can still break this...but I am not going to lose sleep worrying about that. Sully P.S. I very often sniff my entire network area (using my clients rooftop devices) looking for unsecured/conflicting AP's. When I find one, I go and tell them. Easy as that. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Pascal Losier Sent: Friday, October 24, 2003 8:30 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [smartBridges] Giving WEP to a custumer with laptop ??? I know wep is not a big deal to break, But If someone sniff the WEP, then they will spoof MAC. After, They will sniff the community password. Then I will see some access point down..... I don't give a sh.. about custumer stealing bandwith. That is not my worry. I just don't wanna be down because of a computer sniffer that break in after 1 days. & those sniffer cannot keep it for themselve, They wanna show off, They will tell to their friend, Then the word will spread & so on. Buisness will no longer trust 802.11b stuff.. & so on. The sniffer will shut down some access point. Your custumer will be unhappy, & I will go out of buisness....... This is if everything goes bad, I guess. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Lists Sent: Friday, October 24, 2003 11:44 PM To: Pascal Losier Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [smartBridges] Giving WEP to a custumer with laptop ??? You are talking about wep as if it is some big secert....give me a day....and I can give you your wep kep..... you should not depend on wep as a security feature...... just my 2cents worth, Michael On Fri, 24 Oct 2003, Pascal Losier wrote: > I know, This custumer just got me confuse.. > > He is so close that maybe I will just install a 59$ access point just > for him on the roof. > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Derek Breiland > Sent: Friday, October 24, 2003 10:05 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: [smartBridges] Giving WEP to a custumer with laptop ??? > > > If it were me there is no way I would give up the key.
