Hi everyone...

I have a late Powerbook G4 bought nearly three years ago. I use Toast 6.1.1
to burn CDs and DVDs and have done without any problems until this week.

I try to use only decent quality discs, having settled on Verbatim CDs and
DVDs. I also have a small stock of Kodak Gold archiving disks which have
performed perfectly - up to now.

About two months ago the Superdrive was replaced by Robert Harding Computers
under Applecare. I have managed to burn all my Verbatim disks up to that
point and since then with no problems. However, when I tried to burn one of
the Kodak Gold disks Toast came up with a "Sense Key" alarm ("Medium Error")
and a couple of computer codes at the lead out stage. I tried another Gold
disk and the same happened, this time before any information was written. I
tried another couple of disks from another batch and the same happened. As
these disks are expensive I am reluctant to try any more.

I have in the mean time tried to write on a Gold disk on our Toshiba PC
which has Easy Creator installed. This also failed to write.

Does anyone think that there is something wrong with the drive, or the
disks?
