Hello Everyone...

Thank you for all your replies.  Since the last one, I took the machine into
Robert Harding Computers to see if there was any fault with the hardware.
They could not find anything wrong with the Disk Drive but they pointed out
that when they fired up the machine with the OS 10.5 software on their
computer, if they went into the "about your mac" facility on my computer
they could put a blank disk into the machine and see something that was
missing when my computer was fired up on its own OS10:4.  They could see the
writing speed settings.  These were not visible on my own computer.  They
have suggested a re-install of the OS.

I am still not convinced because nothing on the OS has changed since the
disk drive was replaced and the old disk drive had no problems burning
disks.
