I must admit to using Thunderbird and I've never had a problem with it. I trialled it against Mail when I first switched to Apple computers three years ago, and thought it was far superior in every way. Never tried Entourage as it looked too much like Outlook, and I was trying to move away from 'things' Microsoft.

It is really 'horses for courses'. But I don't think I could recommend
anything but Mailsmith or possibly Mail, but both with caveats.
Mailsmith is extraordinarily powerful but often you only access hat
through Applescript or rather complex mechanisms. Mail is very slick -
but less customisable. I took one look at Entourage and decided that
seeing that would make me travel-sick.

If you want a lame donkey, then use Eudora:-)
