Sorry, it seems nondeterministic.  Sometimes (at least after restarting
vdr), the vertically scaled output (CropMode "none", "16:9", or "14:9"
on 4:3 screen) looks similar to fieldParity==1 in CropMode 4:3, but
other times it looks perfect.

Stefan, could you please test that BBC News clip again?  Restart vdr
several times.  Hmm, maybe you will need to kill vdr forcefully to
leave DirectFB in an inconsistent state.  I saw changes of behaviour
after recompiling softdevice with "make plugins", which will cause
vdr to dump core.  After three "killall -KILL vdr", the problem
appeared in 14:9 crop mode.  Screen aspect ratio is set to 4:3.
