We had so many problems with PPPoE on SBC DSL line that we finally paid the
extra money to get a static IP. Works much smoother. I don't know what they
were doing (and they were no help), but our SW (I also tested it with a
LinkSys mini-firewall with the same result) kept loosing the WAN IP and had
to refetch. Down times were in the minutes x 20 per day. Too much
downtime. It became cheaper to get the static IP than to spend more time
solving what I think was an SBC problem, which they would never admit.

FYI: Since then we moved that office from SBC DSL to a Covad DSL line.
Never a hiccup since then. :-)

Oh, another thing. Anyone successfully used A Sonicwall Tele3 with SBC DSL
using PPPoE as well? I may just get another sonicwall so that eventually my
entire network is comprised of them....

Business DSL router

Anyone ever done a link between these 2 devices? Says it supports IKE and
VPN. I'm installing a new DSL between a remote office and my corporate and
was going to use another sonicwall Tele3 but swb has a good promotion to get
one of these routers for alot less money.

http://www.efficient.com/products/routbus.html is the link to the unit.
