OK, it is a 5861 and there is no modem involved.

So yes, the SOHO3 will be connected to the EN 5861, and then the
computers to the SOHO3.

Another problem has just cropped up not related to the firewall.

The user has an account on a credit company that is an https site. After
changing the IP information on the computer and changing the EN to a
static IP, he can no longer access the site. The site has obviously done
some kind of configuration capture and created a "signature" for it. Now
that the IP has changed, the "signature" is no longer valid. Any one
here of this?

Ameritech says that even thought static IP is set, they still require
PPPoE; something about trying to save bandwidth. The tier 2 tech was
unable to explain exactly why.

I agree on 1 too many hardware. But I think the RJ45 is out of the
modem. (The office in question is in Wheaton, IL and I am in southern
Calif.)

The EN router is a 5861.

Wait a minute, the 5861 has an RJ11 on it, so what's up with the modem?
I better call the guy in Wheaton to verify this.

In any event, if I am still going to use the EN router, it will do the
PPPoE, correct?

I think you have 1 to many pieces of hardware. From the RJ45 jack
coming
out of the wall, a patch cable should goto the EN router and another
patch
to the SOHO. (you might need a cross-over, it just depends) Didn't you
say
you got a static IP so you won't be using PPPoE at all. Maybe
Ameritech/SBC does something weird but that is how Verizon and COVAD do
it
on the east coast.

This is a regular Sdsl line to the Net, not a point-to-point to your HQ?
