I think you have 1 to many pieces of hardware.  From the RJ45 jack coming 
out of the wall, a patch cable should goto the EN router and another patch 
to the SOHO.  (you might need a cross-over, it just depends) Didn't you say 
you got a static IP so you won't be using PPPoE at all.  Maybe 
Ameritech/SBC does something weird but that is how Verizon and COVAD do it 
on the east coast.

This is a regular Sdsl line to the Net, not a point-to-point to your HQ?
