OH Great, just as I am about ready to set up for a client a SOHO3-10 on
a Ameritech.net / SBC ADSL line using PPPoE do I see this post. (It is a
remote office connecting to corp office and Sonicwall PRO via VPN.)

I have already changed their service to static IP, (I did that because
of SMTP mail problems,) so hopefully I will be ok, right?

Also, the "Wonderful" tier 2 support personal at Ameritech/SBC said I
have to use the existing Efficient Networks router between the ADSL
modem and the SOHO3. That makes no sense what so ever, correct? They
said I simply have to disable NAT on the EN router. Sounds stupid too
me.

Any thoughts?

Busi ness DSL router

We had so many problems with PPPoE on SBC DSL line that we finally paid
the
extra money to get a static IP. Works much smoother. I don't know what
they
were doing (and they were no help), but our SW (I also tested it with a
LinkSys mini-firewall with the same result) kept loosing the WAN IP and
had
to refetch. Down times were in the minutes x 20 per day. Too much
downtime. It became cheaper to get the static IP than to spend more
time
solving what I think was an SBC problem, which they would never admit.

FYI: Since then we moved that office from SBC DSL to a Covad DSL line.
Never a hiccup since then. :-)

Oh, another thing. Anyone successfully used A Sonicwall Tele3 with SBC
DSL
using PPPoE as well? I may just get another sonicwall so that
eventually my
entire network is comprised of them....

Business DSL router

Anyone ever done a link between these 2 devices? Says it supports IKE
and
VPN. I'm installing a new DSL between a remote office and my corporate
and
was going to use another sonicwall Tele3 but swb has a good promotion to
get
one of these routers for alot less money.
