<[Perhaps you will not have to work hard at it. Perhaps they will come to
you. Perhaps we know more about you and your Federation than you think. Like
what the coordinates of Terra are, or how you barely beat you latest, greatest
enemy the Dominion. We know more than you think, and by the time you realize
the extent of our surveillance.... Well, let's say that your prey animal
partners will already be on our feast tables.]> he said equaling her tone and
demeanor.

<[None of those things are secrets,]> she replied. <[If that's the best you
have, then your intelligence is weak indeed.]> She leaned back in her chair a
little. <[And besides, humans do not taste very good, trust me. Your meal
will be a poor one indeed, if that is your main dish.]> She wanted to diffuse
the situation a little with some humor.

<[A modification on an old Terran phrase... all bad things will come to those
who wait...]> he answered, then sat up perfectly straight, faced forward, and
closed his eyes. A brief moment later, he opened his eyes. He was done.
He would no longer cooperate in this conversation.
