Joanna was sitting at her desk when the message came in that someone wanted to talk with her. She checked to see who it was and did not recognized the name. "This is Joanna Kirk. How can I help you, Admiral?"
"I am sorry for bothering you Counselor. I have recently been assigned to a
case that involves one of you patients. I was wondering if I could meet
with you to discuss it."
Joanna considered the request. She was limited in how much she could discuss about a patron's record without the patient's permission. "What do you need to speak to me about, sir."
"I would like to talk to you about any concerns you might have about me
interviewing him about the case. It left him with a great deal of trauma is my
understanding, and I do not want to make the situation worse for him," said
Jared who was expressing a great deal of concern as he spoke.
"I can advise you about whether I think he could handle such an interview," Joanna replied with a bit of relief.
"I was also hoping to talk to you about the case. As his Counselor, you
will be able to provide some insight into the situation that could help him a
great deal."
"I can talk to you about the case as an advisor, but I will not be able to go into any of the details of the patient's case, Admiral. That is protected by doctor-patient privilege. Talking about his case would be impossible without his permission," replied Joanna. She was not going to be forced into discussing it even if the person doing the questioning was an Admiral. "Who is the patient?"
"David Boulay."
Joanna had not put any particular thought into which patient it could be. She was caught of guard a bit by the name when Jackson said it. It was good that his case was being investigated. That would mean that those who had heard David so badly could be brought to justice. She nodded. "When would you like to speak with me, sir?"

"I do not have any appointments for some time. Would you like to meet in my office or should I come to you?"

"OK, sir. I will be ready when you arrive."
