Subject: tar.gz files and nightly builds
It seems that we should provide tar.gz (see Original Message on bottom for
Dennis reasoning). I disagree, but I'm not the one who do the review.
Dennis, can you provide us some tool for building tar.gz from our revision
control? I suggest you to start with "make git-archive-to-tar-gz" target,
which do the tar, but name it with current revision.
Additionaly - can we have some web space where we can put the tar.gz files?
And if we can have nightly build somewhere too, it would be cool.
if this is a git snapshot then you have not named it correctly.
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging/NamingGuidelines#Snapshot_packages
you only need to provide tarballs for official releases. which your
packages look like.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging/SourceURL#Using_Revision_Control
when ive needed to ship straight from source control ive used a script and
put that in the package.
Note that you need to maintain the spec file in Fedora's cvs once its in.
you can keep a copy in git but you need to be aware that people might
make modifications to the spec, at times.
On that note there is room on fedora hosted for tarballs. but only
officially released ones should go there.

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging/SourceURL#We_are_Upstream says
"There
is no public revision control system or publically released tarball for these
programs so there is no tarball to list" there is a public revision control
system, and im saying there should be public tarballs. this is something
that
could be useful and useable by more than spacewalk. spacewalk could also end
up in other distros. a traball should be provided.
otherwise it looks good.
