Why does that annoy you so much? I don't think folks understand it

for one it messes up my filters. since mailman doesn't send me a copy if i'm on the to, or CC list. which then puts messages out of context. I personally find it rude and overly aggressive and offensive. none of the fedora lists operate that way, people just reply to list. If it was normal behaviour that im used i guess it wouldn't bother me. but it not the normal behaviour.

FYI: mailman has this option:
Receive your own posts to the list?

Ordinarily, you will get a copy of every message you post to the list. If you don't want to receive this copy, set this option to No.

And by default is set to Yes.

I guess in a way since its not the expected behaviour it makes me feel like you think i'm not doing a good enough job if you have to resort to CC'ing me on email that I would have got and read anyway.

Some people here have hundred unread mails so CC'ing them directly will often help. Some may post to list, but are not subscribed. CC'ing them help.

I will say that personally, if you email me, and cc a list I am on, that email gets filtered into a list folder. I may or may not read that email either way, if you include a list email, I will not keep copy in my inbox because of it. I will semi frequently get people either forwarding said email to me directly or pinging me on IRC about an email, if they feel they need to get my attention on something sooner than later (where later could be a week+).

I will also say that if an email is not replied to with a note saying 'interesting, will reply later with more info', or 'its in my queue' or 'I'm busy right now' that if a message is not answered it can be perceived as being ignored... yet I do this all the time, select to ignore an email (for now), but folks seem to assume I am busy :/ :)

so... not sure what the point of my reply is, just saying how I work, because everyone does work differently.

Cliff.
