Greetings all, Would the members of this list have an interest in exploring the following thread?
I've worked in permission based bulk email since around 95, first as owner/operater of a small list hosting company and now as an opt-in list builder. That experience has led me to the evolving mindset that there is no way to end the spam era, and all the enormous expense and negative controversy that is involved, within the current open mail box paradigm. White listing implemented at the user level would seem to give everyone control over their mail boxes. But the inconveniences of that approach appear to be perceived by most users (especially committed anti-spam advocates) as being much greater than the problems associated with the current "no lock on the door" approach. My sense is we could, as a community, end the spam era when ever we wanted to. But we're not willing to pay the price, preferring instead to remain engaged in these never ending debates and controversies. OK, I've deliberately attempted to be a bit controversial in order to stir up a thread that interests me. :-) Anyone want to bite? Sincerely, Phil _______________________________________________ spamcon-general mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.spamcon.org/mailman/listinfo/spamcon-general#subscribers Subscribe, unsubscribe, etc: Use the URL above or send "help" in body of message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Contact administrator: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
