I have never been asked this before with the exception of one time about 10 years ago while working for someone else. I was told and shown that penetrations feeding a sprinkler head were exempt in rated walls. BUT I can't find it now and too busy to dig too far.

If the cpvc is considered pentrating the wall, could you not transition to steel before the penetration? Bobby Gillett Sr. Project Manager Key Fire Protection, Inc. Metal escutcheons provide no rating; the IBC permits only an escutcheon to cover the annular space of a sprinkler penetration when the pipe is noncombustible, i.e., steel, copper, conduit, etc. Regards, Salvatore Izzo, P.E. The other is the extended coverage 8.0K semi-recessed sprinkler spraying into the stairwell (also fed by cpvc from the corridor). The question being asked by the fire marshall - What is the fire rating of the escutcheons? Bobby Gillett Sr. Project Manager Key Fire Protection, Inc.
