Good point, but a qualified inspector also has special expertise which may lend itself to recognizing such products in the field. A really good corollary question is what to do about it from the inspector's point of view. If identifying recalled products is outside the scope of the standard, does the inspector report it to the AHJ as a "concern" or a "deficiency"? Many jurisdictions want to know, and they might exercise their authority to compel the owner to remediate. Some even have ordinance to that effect, in which case the inspector has a hook to hang their hat on.

It's the responsibility of the owner. As such, either the requirement to look for them was in the contract or Walgreens was a big customer for this guy so they "voluntarily" bit the bullet. "Recalls" were on the docket. I was told at that meeting that one of the contractors (present) for other States did NOT report recalls in one (or more) Walgreen's Stores in that State (Eastern U.S.). The "free" replacement period had passed. That sprinkler contractor ended up paying - out of pocket - for the replacements (at Walgreen's "urging" I am sure). > > > > Just food for thought? > > > Regards- > > > Jerry > [email protected] > Santa Fe, New Mexico USA > (800) 503.1961 nationwide > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Cahill, Christopher <[email protected]> > To: sprinklerforum <[email protected]> > Sent: Fri, Sep 6, 2013 3:14 pm > Subject: RE: Central Recall Comments > > > It was voluntary in regards to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. > CPSC has never issued a mandatory recall, they are all voluntary > technically.
