This one is intriguing to me.... If chapter 13 designates it an OH2 shouldn't a
system be allowed to be @ 52,000 sqft regardless of rack storage?

Not quite, Bruce.

What Brian was asking about was rack storage, so I would believe item 5 would
still apply, regardless of the storage height.

Aren't there square footage limitations as well?

Take a look at section 16.2.1.2. I believe in your case, the Misc. Storage
criteria does apply. However, for Class IV commodities on racks 10-12 ft tall,
the criteria is EH1, per the Misc. Storage Table 13.2.1.

I believe where the biggest confusion, and the importance of the definition
comes into play, is with plastic storage over 5 feet, but under 12 feet. There
is not equivalent language to 16.2.1.2 in the plastic storage chapters...

Just want to confirm per the definition of Misc. Storage (3.9.1.18 NFPA 2013)
that just because something is stored less than 12' high doesn't automatically
make it misc. storage. Working on a project that is 42,000 sq.ft. and the owner
is storing Class I-IV commodities on double row racks. Says he was told as long
as he doesn't exceed 12' high he only needs OH-2 protection at the ceiling...
