Hi Carlos,

Thanks for your response. I have run the update commands and ensured my 
Canopy distribution is up to date (now running IPython 1.1.0). However, I'm 
still seeing the same error message when I try to open an IPython terminal 
while the Canopy Python interpreter is selected.

Do you have any other ideas why this might be? Could it be something to do 
with 32- / 64-bit compatibility (my Canopy distribution is 64-bit, while I 
installed Spyder via the .dmg app available)?
