Hi Andy,

I checked this out yesterday and there seems to be a problem in our side when trying to detect if IPython is installed in Canopy or not. This is failing right now and that's why you are seeing that error message. I need to investigate further to know why this is happening.

Cheers,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,

(Think I may have accidentally replied to my own message above!)

I tried your suggestion and can confirm that my IPython is now running version 1.1.0 (through Canopy). However I'm still getting the same error message as originally reported. Note that this only happens when I change the default Python interpreter in the console options.

Could this be something to do with 32-/64-bit compatibility? My Canopy Python distribution is 64-bit. I downloaded the Spyder .dmg app, so I'm not sure whether this is 32- or 64-bit.

Thanks,
Andy

    Hi Andy,

If your IPython Canopy version is 0.11, you really need to update it.
That's the root of your problem. I think you need these commands
    to do it:

    enpkg enstaller
    enpkg ipython

The latest IPython version is 1.1, and that's the one that also comes
    with our Mac app.

    Cheers,
    Carlos
