Hi Carlos,

(Think I may have accidentally replied to my own message above!)

I tried your suggestion and can confirm that my IPython is now running
version 1.1.0 (through Canopy). However I'm still getting the same error
message as originally reported. Note that this only happens when I change
the default Python interpreter in the console options.

Could this be something to do with 32-/64-bit compatibility? My Canopy
Python distribution is 64-bit. I downloaded the Spyder .dmg app, so I'm not
sure whether this is 32- or 64-bit.

Thanks,
Andy
