Hi Michael. Yes it's 7.9 on the Diskstation. I've tested further with
different iTunes versions. Not all are on the Apple website, but I
sourced a copy of 12.3.0 from an unofficial online repository and tested
last night, having not tested before.

On the library and XML file from this version, it seems the iTunes LMS
plugin did work. However, my playlists took a lot longer to import -
with iTunes 12.0.1, a 'clear all and rescan' takes about 4.5 hours in
total; scanning iTunes 12.3.0 took 7.5.

When I previously tested iTunes 12.7 the LMS iTunes plugin found the
files, but again slowed down when scanning the playlists - it hadn't
finished scanning them after two days, so I aborted.

So it seems I should hopefully be able to use iTunes 12.3.0 to sync with
an iPod Touch 128gb and also produce a library that the LMS plugin will
be able to scan - albeit at a slower speed. But using more recent
versions of iTunes could be an issue for LMS iTunes plugin to get
through (at least with my high numbers of playlists). But I think I have
a solution for now.

Is it possible each new release of iTunes introduced more and more
complex ways of scripting its playlists, making LMS iTunes plugin scans
take longer and longer?

Any tips or ideas as to how I/we can speed up the LMS iTunes plugin when
it hits the playlists stage?

Many thanks

Andy
