Thanks for the reply Michael. I'm not keen on changing my NAS drive (due to cost) or changing the setup (lack of time to work it all out), however, it looks like some of your suggested changes have improved things with iTunes 12.3.0.
In LMS, I disabled all but the plugins I actually use (below image shows only the active ones): 24367 I changed the performance settings to ramp up the RAM on scanning (only setting I changed: Scanner Priority up to -20). I'm guessing turning off pre-caching of artwork will mean my Squeezebox players take longer to display each tracks art when they play, so I left this turned on - is my assumption correct? Performance settings: 24368 For completeness, here's my iTunes plugin settings: 24369 Last night, I repeated the LMS 'Clear and rescan'. This previous took 7.5 hours, but I seem to have saved 1 hour (building the full text index) following some (or all) of the above changes: 24370 This morning, I started a simple scan to look for 'New and changed media files' (this usually takes around 4 hours - although there are no actual changed files) - this took just under 3 hours, so another time save (although I don't know which part of the proces this was saved in, as didn't screen grab any previous scans of this type): 24371 So this is all fairly positive with iTunes 12.3.0, the library and LMS on my Synology DS-213air, and an iPod Touch 128GB on the way - I should be able to get the various gadgets, software and playlists to all sync from the iTunes library. However, I welcome tips on how to further optimise the setup and speed up the LMS scans - any you have will be gratefully received. I have a few other bits of background software running on the Synology NAS which I rarely use (Videostation, Audiostation, etc.), so assume that permanently stopping these would also help the scan speed - I'll investigate in future weeks. One question that springs to mind. What does the LMS iTunes plugin setting 'Extract iTunes Artwork' do? I'm aware that a LMS scan optimises image dimensions for Squeezebox players, so where does this plugin setting fit in? Is there any benefit to turning it on? Although my library is in iTunes (which doesn't technically embed images in the audio files), I've used Bliss to embed everything, so am assuming there's no need to turn the iTunes plugin 'Extract iTunes Artwork' function on? Am I correct in this thinking? Thansk again for all the advice.
