It's hard to have perfect tags if you haven't tagged the music when you
ripped it.

However, if you in the process of ripping the music also tag it, it's
pretty easy to have nearly perfect tags.

The real advantage of tags is that it makes it possible to browse your
music in several ways. IMHO SlimServer doesn't really take advantage of
tags, it would be possible to make a lot more flexible browsing
mechanism using tags and the database. The reason for the pretty static
browsing methods in SlimServer is probably that a real SQL database was
added pretty recently, so SlimServer hasn't really started to use its
flexibility yet.

Anyway, BMF works for some people and tags works for other, so having
both is definitely a strength.
