Have had many positive experiences of MN nice both in the giving and the receiving. Maybe others could share stories to help restore your faith.
I've never had to ask twice for a jump start.
The only times I've never had someone pull over to help me when my car was in trouble were:
* when I fixed the problem so fast myself that it couldn't
have happened, and
* in the middle of Phillips in the middle of the night.
There's a passive-aggressive edge to some Minnesotans, certainly. And Minnesotans as a whole are neither as "nice" nor as passive-aggressive-taciturn as North Dakotans. And during my time working in bars, I saw examples of incredible barbarism.
But for the most part, Minnesotans seem to be all right. That's after living here...oy, vey, 18 years. How the time flies.
