Not sure about Solaris 11, but Solaris 10 stores the hostname in at
least three places . /etc/hosts /etc/nodename, and /etc/host.intf

the others and, more importantly, that the box was a dhcp client while
utsetup was ran?


OK, but the question was:  how can we "harden" the installation
scripts so that common mistakes are avoided.  Could not unknown
be treated as localhost or something that would at least work?
I think I have said enough on this subject.
