?????? I think you have the wrong list, but..... S900 boots smp aware into linux via quik/OF (OF version is 1.0.5) The OF 'control panel' you mention is an app called boot variables (although you can also use an apple utility called system disk) that allows you to set certain variables in the non-volatile ram - this is what you reset to defaults when you zap the pram. Open firmware on the s900 defaults to interacting with the user via the serial port. Our machines have no onboard video - so this makes sense I suppose...... Via the aforementioned apps you can change your input and output devices to your keyboard and video card so you can interact directly with the machine before it boots an OS. By booting this way you avoid any kludges that MacOS classic does to support smp - the slate is clean for Linux to avoid the MacOS rom (which is the default boot device btw) and initialize the system hardware for its own uses. Apple never intended the early OF to boot the machine - which is why we each have a proprietay rom that umax had to license from Apple. The Linux developers have found a way to point OF in the right direction and start up Linux without using this rom. Apple has even gone this way in their later versions of MacOS classic by including a MacOS ROM file in the system folder. errrggggh.... enough rambling, Tom btw - Pastor Mac - It was earlier versions of BootX that had the problems with OS9.xxx sorry about drifting off-topic guys........ -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
