This is my fix too. I have a 17" Mac Studio Display monitor I bought
with my B&W G3 in 1999. It conked out 2 weeks before my extended
warranty was due to expire! My luck extended and I got it repaired
free. Then a year later it gave the same death rattle and it now sits
in the garage. In it's place is a great 17" Philips 107S monitor from
Bestbuy that was on sale and had a rebate for $125. This store is
less than 5 miles away too. Then there's a 17" Mac Studio Display
monitor for $ 129 on eBay. One of these days I'll get an estimate
from Computer Ware but they're a 40 mile round trip on 280 to get a
tech look and charge the same $100 as you say. Used to be $ 35 to get
an estimate and I use to fix TV sets by checking the tubes in a store
around the corner that sold magazines, tobacco products, ice cream
and had pin ball games too. How times change to now recycle a monitor
that originally costs $ 499(-: Anyone know of any other options or
monitor repair emporiums in the San Francisco Bay Area? Thanks.
Eric
