Thanks! H6D0F it is! There was just a rather large space between the F and the rest, so I wasn't sure if the whole thing was the model number, or just the first bit. Where on the case should it say S900? I don't mind the fan noise, it's a nice smooth air blowing sort of noise. The noise I hear, even when the fans and computer are off, is VERY high pitched, like "on the upper limit of human hearing" high pitched. If you've ever heard the whine some camera flashes make when they're recharging, that's the sound I'm hearing. Only at a constant pitch. When I unplug the computer, the noise continues for a few seconds, increasing in frequency (sounding just like a camera flash recharging) then disintegrates into some crackle-y buzzing noises, and is gone. > Maybe your side panel is vibrating and causing the buzzing ? > Press your hand on the side panel and see what happens.
