The whine is constant whenever the computer is plugged in.  When I unplug it
it goes away after a few seconds.

I'm 21 and don't have especially good hearing, but ever since I can remember
sometimes when I was watching TV I would hear a high pitched noise, much
like the one this computer makes.  It was annoying and I would say "Do you
hear THAT?" to anyone who was around, but they could never hear it.  I'll
see if I can get anyone else to hear the whine from my S900.

Maybe I just have super-human hearing that gives me the amazing power to
hear annoying high pitched electronic noises that no one else can.  Great.
