The whine is constant whenever the computer is plugged in. When I unplug it it goes away after a few seconds. I'm 21 and don't have especially good hearing, but ever since I can remember sometimes when I was watching TV I would hear a high pitched noise, much like the one this computer makes. It was annoying and I would say "Do you hear THAT?" to anyone who was around, but they could never hear it. I'll see if I can get anyone else to hear the whine from my S900. Maybe I just have super-human hearing that gives me the amazing power to hear annoying high pitched electronic noises that no one else can.
