Hi John;

You havn't said how long this "whine" lasts or your age group. My 
ears are 72 years old and conditioned by many years shotgun shooting 
with out ear protectors in my youth, so I would never hear things the 
younger listers could easily hear. A ENT Doctor once tested my 
hearing at about age 35 as being 30 db down at 10 Khz.

That said the whine could be the power supply oscillator quitting as 
the various capacitors discharge. If that is the case, no problem. 
All normal. A loose attachment point in or on the Power Supply could 
magnify the sound.
