Probably, because, there are those of us people that don't think that
it is crappy software. Software is software, either learn how it is
supposed to be used or don't use it. There is no software company
that can produce software that will run as advertised on ANY given
system with the wide span of experience, the user may or may not have.

As I stated, this can be also done. But by utilizing the system
function and not IomegaWare, you loose some of the functionality of
the Iomega ZIP system as intended.

Regardless of wether you use the system function or IomegaWare, the
Mac sees it the same. IF<the mac sees the ZIP there is at least
Iomega drivers in tyhe system for the ZIP drive. AFAIK, the Software
version level of the IomegaWare that formatted the disk, has no
bearing on any other system that can or can not read it. Where
problems come, is the added functionality of ActiveDick, FindIt,
RecordIt conflicting with other software that is loaded. I have
found that changing the load order of the extensions for this items
solves a lot of the conflicts. IomegaWare is just as good as any
other software package that you can name, and like any other software
package, the user has to learn how to use it and possibly finagle it.
