What you want to do is connect the SCSI cable, then the power cable, which will power up the drive because it does not have an on/off switch. Insert a disc and then boot up the computer. The disc icon should show up on your desktop, either ready for use or with a message asking that you format it. If you are lucky, it won't matter which address you choose on the zip drive. You'll run into less confusion and problems if you steer clear of any Iomega software and treat the drive as an external SCSI device. Format the disc - you will get the same message as you are used to seeing when you have to format a floppy. One more time, if I may, DON'T INSTALL ANY IOMEGA SOFTWARE . It is not necessary for using the drive and discs. It may be necessary for you to keep a copy of something like SCSI Probe when you need to acquire the disc after the computer is booted up.
