I am using Vuescan in OS X on my daughter's S900. Our scanner is a UMAX Astra 600S (SCSI). It has been a dream for me; no problems whatsoever and nothing special needed to get it to work. The only thing that I need to watch is that the scanner is actually turned on when I boot up X. Was your 1200S turned on when you booted up your X system?
