No, I used to have an external burner back when, but it was unfortunately
lost several years ago, while I was traveling overseas. I just recovered
the J700 several months ago, and was planning on getting new storage for
it, just to prevent this lack of backup, but it beat me to it.

As I mentioned, my plan will be to get a new HD, install the system from
the CD, then try and bring up the bad drive. If it works, I'll buy an
external burner, as before, and backup frequently, as I'd always done
before. Just hoping that I can access the old HD - it'd be nice. Most of
my vital stuff is backed up on my website anyways.

I'm interested in some info regarding how the system interacts with the
two SCSI buses, and how I can apparently just install a PCI controller
card and run IDE drives, etc, but I'll ask specific questions later, when
this machine is back up, and backed up! ;-)

On to the HD ordering task!
