If it works, great, but the Umax CD contains a very old light version of Norton
Utilities - You could run Disc Doctor first to see what happens, and then follow up
with SpeedDisc.

But please, please find an external SCSI CD drive or a burner.
Borrow, steal, snag, whatever and hang on to it with deal life.
Even if you are able to successfully boot from the internal CD drive using the old
Umax CD, an external drive offers you the opportunity to boot from a utilities CD
such as Disc Warrior, Norton Utilities or TechTool or any homemade bootable CD.

Some listers have swapped out the factory Matshita CD drive with "Apple" CD drives
or burners so any bootable CD can be used.
