Thanks all! I have learned more but need some help from an owner with a true S900 (not a Marathon RackMac model).
My question is: what happens when the Front Audio plug from the 6 pin header (its a 6 pin not a 5 pin as I originally quoted) is removed completely? Does the rear port still get fed the audio signal? My Marathon has no front Audio capability (mine merely has this shorting bar on pins 1 and 3). And the only way for me to test the audio (again all I can get is one left channel) is a connection to the rear plug *the plug soldiered to the MB*. This allows the user to conveniently access sound-out ports for headset use and sound-in ports for microphone use. There is also an audio out port located at the rear of the system. The algorithm for cutoff of sound-out is as follows: The forward jack has the highest priority, the rear next and the internal speaker the last. For example, if one has headphones plugged into the forward jack, the rear jack and the internal speaker are cutoff from any sound.
