Back in August when the program started constantly asking me if I wanted
to 'COMPACT NOW?', I finally clicked OK to whatever the message was in
the hope that it would stop asking me the question.

Instead it seemed to compact almost constantly, causing a 'fluttering'
of the script on my emails and making them almost unreadable. So I
looked for a way to reverse what I had done and made a bit mistake. As
I searched through the '\help' options I came across one that offered "
Restart with add-ons disabled"

When I clicked on yes, the program reverted to a new installation, and I
lost all emails, including all those that I had saved for the previous 6
months since I had bought this computer. Unfortunately I could not find
a way to reverse what I had just done.
I have just switched over to Thunderbird, and all the current email
lists have imported completely.

Does anyone have any idea how I might retrieve those lost emails in Sea
Monkey - personal ones with photos are the ones I would like to retrieve
- or are they gone completely?

I'm not sure how to get them out, but I think that I maybe able to help you find them.

Depending upon your operating system, not sure about mac's or Unix systems but in Windows (vista for me) you need to find what is called the "slt" file mine looks like this "kdz14sgr.default" yours will probably be different.

This is how you find it (again in Vista).
open your "C:" Drive and look at the folders find the folder "Users".

Then you will look for a folder that is your computers name, not "all users", "default users", or "guests", but probably the one after these depending upon what you named your computer.

Inside that folder look for "Application Data".

Inside that folder look for "Mozilla".

Inside that folder look for "Seamonkey".

Inside that folder look for "Profiles"

Inside that folder your will find the "slt" folder as mentioned above.

Inside that folder you will find the "Mail" folder.

Inside this folder you should find all your mail, broken down by where you get your mail from, I have gmail, yahoo, and a few others in mine, inside of these folders you should find your missing mail.

Again, I'm not sure how to get it out of there, but there it should be.

Hope this helps you some.

Eric
