That's not how my copy behaves. I can run through the letter wizard, 
including creating a contact record, and the Contact Info Edit Date 
remains unchanged. If I change one of the pertinent fields, the date 
changes to the current date. You're right, something else is going on 
there, but it's non-standard. The field Contact Info Edit Date should 
be calculated with the following formula:
If(CONTACT INFO = CONTACT INFO,Status(CurrentDate),Status(CurrentDate))
You have something different?
