Hi Steven,

}- Yes, the light on the top of the the laptop goes from red to
}- yellow/green after it has been plugged in for a while. But
}- what should I do with the little sliding switch that is on the
}- battery? Should I put it in the red position to charge the
}- battery? Or what?

}- I am sure that this switch has some purpose, but what is it?

On all 3 of my Toshiba laptops the switch you are referring to is
to indicate whether the battery is locked in place or not, red
means it's not locked. But I've never had a 1200, mine are a
T1000, a T1850, and a Libretto 50CT respectively. But you should
be able to check it out easily enough.

Also, just FYI, I have found Toshiba's customer service and tech
support to be very helpfull with used legacy machines. If you
need a manual for you 1200 you may be able to call them and get
them to send you one, it will cost, but the price should be
reasonable.

Hope this helps,
Boanne
