Do you know the workings of USB speakers?
They are simply digital-analog converters and amplifiers. To make sound,
all the hardware functions an ordinary soundcard has like mixer, MIDI
chip, wavetable and all that have to be emulated in software (by a
windows only driver of course) and they then send a stream of bytes to
the speakers.
