Which version? The current versions are NetWare 3.2 (Bindery, no directory
services) requires a 386 or above, 1Mb of RAM although 4Mb is a working
minimum, and I think about 40Mb of HDD. NetWare 4.2 (with NDS) requires
better hardware (maybe a 486, more RAM and HDD certainly), while NetWare 5
(NDS, fully IP with IPX as an option) requires a Pentium (can run on a 486
but it's slow), 64Mb RAM (I can run the Beta 3 in 40Mb, but the release
version refuses to install with less than 64Mb) and at least 250Mb of HDD
(mine runs in 240 but I had to miss large chunks out).
http://www.novell.com/ has more information, although I'm not sure if they
offer student prices. The Beta version of Cobra (NetWare 5.1) is available
for a small charge, but is time-bombed.
